The Laboratory for AI, Machine Learning, Business & Data Analytics (LAMBDA) at Tel-Aviv University focuses on research, development and collaboration activities in the areas of artificial intelligence, big data analytics and data science, with a strong emphasis on real-life industrial challenges.

The Lab aims to serve as a hub of collaboration, enabling scholars and students to work collaboratively on practical data-science challenges, while exposing the industry to pioneering research methods and to the next generation of analytics tools. Accordingly, LAMBDA’s efforts are focused on large-scale collaborative research projects with a unique synergy among groups of academic researchers, developers, educators, industry-domain experts, practitioners and decision makers.

The LAMBDA team is a multidisciplinary group of researchers who specialize in relevant areas of AI and data science and provide a unique blend of expertise. Each member of the team has a solid academic background coupled with practical hands-on experience in various industries, such as manufacturing, cyber security, transportation, telecommunication, internet, retail, finance, semi-conductor, energy and healthcare. The lab’s research relies on diverse methods, including supervised and unsupervised machine learning, structured/unstructured data extraction and analysis, text and graph mining algorithms, information theory applications, statistical process control and deep-learning to name a few.

The lab offers a wide variety of activities including multidisciplinary research projects, collaborative development initiatives, conferences, workshops, and dedicated Hackathon events in cooperation with industry and academic partners.

DIGITAL LIVING 2030: The TAU-Stanford Partnership

DIGITAL LIVING 2030: The TAU-Stanford Partnership focuses on research initiatives that improve our digital lives. The program will bring together a uniquely talented consortium of Tel Aviv University and Stanford University faculty and students to spearhead the development of infrastructures, processes, methods and algorithms that will be implemented by hardware and software components to create and support our new data-rich world. The research carried out by the consortium will take advantage of both universities’ highly cooperative and multidisciplinary ecosystems to address the big questions essential to achieving a major impact on our environmental, social and personal well-being.

COLLABORATIONS

One of LAMBDA’s fundamental goals is to collaborate with industry partners. Our experience working with multiple companies and startups across diverse domains has shown that both academia and industry can benefit from such cooperation. The synthesis of actual business cases and data sources on the one hand, and access to advanced research methodologies and knowledge on the other, has the potential to foster productive, long-lasting relationships.

  • Channel talented students towards data science positions in various industries

Companies can provide sponsorship to LAMBDA either by offering financial support to graduate students, or by actively collaborating with us in research of real-world data science challenges. Non-profit entities and research institutions may also serve as sponsors of LAMBDA.
